The commit is only as good as the number under it.

Most enterprise contracts treat unused commitment as forfeited at the end of the term. That makes the forecast the most important number in the whole negotiation. Promise more than you will use and you pay for tokens you never consume. Promise less and you give up the discount band you could have held and risk overage at list price. The workbook exists to find the level where the unit discount and the consumption you can defend actually meet.
